SERVANT OF GOD LOUIS SAVINIEN DUPUIS

On 4th of June at 10.30am, Most Rev. Dr. Antony Anandarayar, Archbishop of Pondicherry & Cuddalore blessed and sanctified the renovated Chapel and the Dupuis Memorial at the Immaculate Generalate, Pondicherry.

Fr. Louis Savinien Dupuis found joy in God’s service, strength in meekness, and dedication in uplifting women’s life. In living the Gospel, he recognized that Jesus would go to pray alone before making important decisions. Fr. Dupuis would do the same. This day was the great day to make known the world that our Founder has been raised as ‘Servant of God’ by the Holy See.

The Commencement of the process of Canonization of the Servant of God Louis Savinien Dupuis had begun at 5.30pm. The General and Provincial Governance Teams of FIHM Congregation, hundreds of our sisters, Formees, Immaculate Associates, the Superior General of FIH-Quilon, Kerala & group of FIH sisters (bifurcated from FIHM), Children and laitie had gathered in front of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Generalate to witness this great historical event. The portrait of Fr. Louis Savinien Dupuis was carried in a procession and all marched devotionally towards the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Pondicherry.

The Holy Eucharistic Celebration was presided by Most Rev. Dr. Antony Anandarayar, Archbishop of Pondicherry & Cuddalore along with Archbishop Emeritus Most Rev. Dr. Michael Augustin, other Bishops and priests.

During the solemn Holy Eucharistic Celebration the Archbishop of Pondy - Cuddalore declared officially that our Founder Father has been raised to the title of ‘Servant of God’. Also, the members of the Preparatory committees and the vice - Postulators had taken Oath of their responsibilities. After the Holy Mass, a brief programme was staged illustrating the life and works of our Founder. Also, a short documentary film about the life history of Servant of God L.S. Dupuis was displayed which enlightened the people with the knowledge of Fr. Dupuis. The celebration ended gracefully with a sharing of fraternal meal.
